DESCRIPTION: The Eberly College of Science’s Office of Communications seeks an editorial assistant to join its team and provide key support for the college’s branding and storytelling efforts. Specifically, the person in this position will:

– Edit, fact-check, and coordinate the production/distribution of articles, feature stories, promotional materials, newsletter, and other publications created by the college’s Office of Communications.
– Ensure that all promotional materials (flyers, brochures, posters, email marketing, invitations, etc.) created by college units meet University editorial style and branding guidelines as the college’s University editor system representative.
– Review and approve information submitted for inclusion on the college events calendar and posting to the college website.
– Conduct benchmarking, background research and information gathering for priority college communications and talking points.

The editorial assistant must be a well-organized individual with proven editing and proofreading experience and a keen attention to detail; they should also be someone who can work both independently and as a member of a dynamic team. As a frequent first point of contact for the Office of Communications (and as an extension the college), the person should also be able to communicate in a positive, professional, and collaborative manner with colleagues and external stakeholders and demonstrate an appreciation and understanding of diverse audiences and communities.

Greatest consideration will be given to candidates with a degree and/or experience in an English, journalism, or communications-related field. Strong familiarity with Associated Press, Chicago Manual of Style, and University editorial style and branding guidelines and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and InDesign, and Canva are also desired.

This is a permanent part-time position (averaging 20–24 hours a week) with the flexibility to work in a remote/hybrid environment. Interested candidates should submit a resume and a cover letter detailing their interest in the position.
